According to a recent Office 365 Adoption & Risk Report, Office 365 has eclipsed all other cloud providers to emerge as the most widely used enterprise cloud service by user count. The report from Campbell, California–based cloud security firm Skyhigh Networks analyzed some 27 million employees across countless businesses to deliver the statistic. Despite that result, moving from on-premises Office services to their cloud equivalents can be easily misunderstood at all levels of an organization without the proper communication.

Office 365 offers substantial benefits in business collaboration, agility, productivity, and cost efficiency. However, before you can realize those benefits, you’ll need to go through Office 365 migration - a complex and arduous process that requires careful planning and preparation.

While this comes as little surprise to any CIO, the challenges still persist in quickly advancing a digital transformation strategy that encompasses the entire enterprise.

An interesting problem came up after a migration where the customer did not want to copy all the data from the old domain’s NETLOGON share into the new company’s Domain Controllers. However, there were several batch files and VB scripts referencing the old Domain Controller and NETLOGON path. We had to come up with a solution to allow the old files to execute properly. (There was a long term plan to migrate all this information to Group Policy objects, but that is months away.)

Big data in the business world can have varying quantities depending on the size and capabilities of a company. For smaller companies, big data may consist of hundreds of gigabytes. While for larger companies it may be Terabytes or exabytes of data before they have to resort to alternative methods of collection.  Either way, as each year passes, data collection is getting heavier and heavier. It won't be long before many companies will be outsourcing their datasets to data analysts in order to obtain business and consumer trends within their market.

Based on some feedback from our customers, there has been some confusion regarding the role and function of the "alternate file share witness." The confusion lies in the event of datacenter activation; that the alternate file share witness would automatically come online as a means to provide quorum to the surviving DAG members and keep the databases mounted. So in many ways, some people view it as redundancy to the file share witness for an even numbered DAG.
