What is BCDR?

Disaster-Event

Having a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) plan is what a company does in preparation for a potential unforeseen risk. It poses the question of, what would you do if an unforeseen accident such a fire or flood were to damage your critical hardware and infrastructure. Furthermore, for most if not all businesses, it’s what’s stored on this hardware that is the most valuable. In a situation like this the risk does not outweigh the cost. The amount of time it takes to recover this lost data, if it can be recovered, can be detrimental to a company’s business. Time is money, and for every minute your systems are down you are losing potential revenue that you should be generating during that time.

For almost all companies, having a BCDR plan is a necessity. Having critical information that a company relies on a daily basis needs to be protected as best as it possibly can be.
