Endpoint Security (E80.30)

Check Point has recently announced the release of Endpoint Security, E80.30. This release has resolved several issues that were present in E80.20 and also introduced some new features that should prove to be useful in the future. Two features of the E80.20 are Virtual Groups and Media Encryption & Port Protection Support.

Virtual Groups

This is a directory that you can use to create and manage groups, users, and computers with the Endpoint Security Management Console. You can use it as an alternative to active directory or with active directory for added flexibility. It is a great feature for those folks whose Active Directory group structure was not setup with Endpoint Security in mind. You now have the ability to create your own groups on the Endpoint Server itself and add computers, users and OU’s to those groups. This makes structuring your packages and policies much, much easier.

Media Encryption & Port Protection Support

USB 3.0 is starting to show up in more places, on more devices and the ability to encrypt and provide port protection for those devices is as critical as ever, this feature should make it that much easier as the new generation of laptops and workstations are introduced.
