While this is nothing new, I was speaking with a few customers this week and was reminded that not everyone knows about this great piece of software from Blue Coat.

For those of you who don’t know what K-9 is,  it is basically a free version of Blue Coat’s powerful Content Filtering Product that can be used on your home computer (and a number of mobile devices) to enforce a content filtering policy.

For example,

•      Keep children off of unwanted sites,
•      Protect yourself against malicious sites
•      Set usage and time of day limits
•      Detailed reporting

The neat thing about this is that it leverages Blue Coat's existing content filtering database which protects over 75 million users world wide and provides an effective, free way to protect yourself and your family while they are on the web.

It is definitely worth checking out, especially with their recent announcement regarding their new support on more mobile devices (Android, iPad, iPhone etc) with their K9 Web Protection browser.
